Stockholm, Feb. 6(CED) — The opening ceremony of Beijing Winter Olympics was directed by Zhang Yimou who also directed the opening of 2008 summer Olympics.

In 2008, there were 25 thousand people attending the opening ceremony including Swedish former prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt. This time there were only 3000 people attended.

In 2008 Zhang Yimou said he wanted to show the 5000 year history and culture of China. This year he only wanted to show the modern advanced technology and innovation by using all the amateurs or mass actors or dancers.

Without inviting any professional artists, the art activities embody the idea that people are at the center. The retired people and children danced at the very beginning for warming up.

And then the flowers are all artificial intelligence. The songs are played by records and a lot of western songs including the theme song of Titanic.

The whole ceremony also reflect “simple, green and unity” theme.
