Beijing Winter Olympics opens

Stockholm, Feb. 4(CED) –Grand opening ceremony has been held in Beijing for the Beijing Winter Olympics.

Chinese President Xi JInping, Russian president Vladimir Putin and UN Secretary General Antonio Gutteres together with head of state and government officials as well as sports delegations from 66 countries, regions and institutions attended the opening ceremony.

According to Director Zhang Yimou, the opening ceremony hired a lot of amateur dancers and singers namely the unties and children to dance at the beginning of the ceremony.

They are aged between 5 and 70 years old.

“The aim is to reflect that sport is a people’s sport. Thus we don’t use professional actors or actress. They are just ordinary people.” said Zhang.
